Abu Dhabi, XX May 2015:The International Fund for Houbara Conservation (IFHC) celebrated World Migratory Bird Day with a big bash this year at its Head Office in Al Mamoura, Abu Dhabi. The event saw IFHC employees, school students from across Abu Dhabi and key stakeholders, including staff from the Abu Dhabi Environment Agency, gather for a morning of activities designed to raise awareness of the plight of migratory birds across the globe.

Hosted annually, the global campaignsees bird enthusiasts and conservationists and anyone else with a desire to, hosting events across the worlddesigned to inspire others to protect migratory birds and their habitats. IFHC has long celebrated the event, but this year marks the first event of its kind on this scale.

“We are delighted with the outcome of today’s event, which truly highlights the leaps and bounds we have come since our establishment in 2006. Engaging our stakeholders, from employees to students and interested conservation bodies, is central to our philosophy at the IFHC where we are committed to a holistic conservation programme. Reintroducing a near extinct species is no easy feat and can only be achieved by the widest cooperation of mankind,” said Mohammed Saleh Al Baidani, Director General at the International Fund for Houbara Conservation.

The event, which spanned two hours, saw over 100 students attend from across the emirate. Welcomed by Al Baidani who delivered a key note speech, the event featured live music and theatrical performances for attendees to enjoy.

In addition, the IFHC was pleased to announce the launch of its new gaming application, which is designed to educate its younger target audience on the importance of Houbara conservation. The game follows the trials and tribulations of Haboor, requiring players to completing six challenges while the clock is ticking. From collecting hearts, escaping eagles, and choosing the right food to eat, each successful round will push the player to complete each task even faster.

“Haboor's world is a vast and colourful place for kid’s edutainment, teaching them about the wonderful world of Houbara. The game continues the story of Haboor who is regularly featured in our range of educational initiatives and is becoming ever more popular among children,” added Delphine Delire, Head of Communications, IFHC.

The new app will be available in the coming weeks.
